Fumigation fee Australian cargo

The Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has announced a temporary period of fumigation of high risk goods as of September 1st, 2018 until April 30th, 2019 to prevent the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug from entering the Australian ecosystem.

Starting 1 September 2018, all goods to Australia will be treated with Sulfuryl Fluoride (SF). This will be done prior to sailing since treatment on arrival can result in significant delays in delivery of the cargo up to 3 to 4 weeks, as well as in additional costs, such as storage fees until treatment of the container is performed at destination.

As a result, the following commodities cannot be accepted in our LCL Export containers for Australia until further notice:
– Food for human consumption (including beverages) and food additives
– Seeds for sowing
– Registered Pharmaceuticals
The costs for the fumigation amount to EUR 25 W/M – min 25 and will be part of our FOB charges.
